Cut Out Card Tutorial

Hello everyone! It's my day to post at Peachy Keen Stamps and I am sharing a tutorial today. I call this a Cut Out Card. I'm not sure if there is an actual name for this type of card, so this is what I call it LOL! I find this type of card very appealing to the eye. It has lots of visual interest and isn't just the same old type of card.

This is kind of a long post, so grab a cup of coffee, sit back and relax.

CUT OUT CARD TUTORIAL
You are going to cut your basic layers for a 5 X 5 card.
Card Base- 5 X 5 inches
Second layer and Inside Mat-( 2)- 4 3/4 X 4 3/4
Inner White mat- 4 1/2 X 4 1/2

For this card I used Peachy Keen's Home Tweet Home stamp set for the tree and Wright Avenue for the house and sentiment. I also used the Fiskars Stamp Press, Tuxedo Black Momento Ink, and scissors along with your paper.

Supplies

I started by stamping my images onto the white 4 1/2 inch mat. You can overlap them in this case because we are going to paper piece the images. I chose to color the tree trunk with Copic markers, but you can paper piece this too. I also used a Copic marker to color in around my images and added die cut grass to the bottom.
I stamped and paper pieced the house and tree branch and glued them onto my stamped mat. I also stamped the sentiment onto the grass.

Phase 1

Now we're ready to cut!
Cut around your inner white mat with scissors around the outside edges of the house and tree in the upper right corner. After the white inner mat is cut, layer and glue it onto the blue second layer and repeat.
And finally, layer and glue your pieces onto the card base with the fold being to the left side. Open your card base up with the fold to the left side and cut only around the front side of your card mat in the same way as the previous 2 layers.

Phase 2

To finish off the card, I glued the second blue 4 3/4 inch square mat to the inside of the card.
And there you have it! A Cut Out Card!

Thank you so much for stopping in today and I hope I have inspired you to try one of these cards yourself!
Have a great day!
